Worship

Basis of Worship

The Baptist Catechism asks, “What is the chief end of man?” The answer to that is, “Man’s chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.” (1 Cor. 10:31; Psalm 73:25-26).

Lord willing, God’s elect assemble together to glorify God in worship every Lord’s Day.

God can only be worshiped in Spirit and Truth: “…when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23–24.

Jesus Christ must be central in all matters of worship.

For more doctrinal information on worship see our Confession of Faith, Chapter 22- Of Religious Worship and the Sabbath Day.

Distinctives of Primitive Baptist Worship:

We are a family/age-integrated church. We do not separate families for worship, as the Biblical model is that all people, of all ages, are brought together. Our families remain together for the worship time– praying, singing, and hearing the Word of God read and preached.

A cappella singing.

Personal and Family Worship

We encourage personal and family worship in the home. When we gather together as the church we believe that the entire family is to be a part of worship; we don’t believe that the Scriptures teach separating families and individuals into groups outside of the general assembly for worship. Some may refer to this as family/age-integrated worship.
